More BFBC2 Servers in SA, Give IS a License!!!

Postby Diacide » 09 Mar 2010, 13:56

Taken form the IS Forums:

It is a sad situation that South Africa can only have about 240 players on ranked servers at any given time. IGame and SGS's servers are perminantly full and people are waiting 2 hours to try get a spot on a server.

I'm beggining to regret buying this game because I want to play online ranked games and there just are not enough servers. Perhaps EA does not understand how things work here in South Africa! We cannot play on international servers because the ping is extremly high. There are no neighboring countries with servers.

Our only option is locally hosted servers in South Africa making use of the game hosts who put up physical servers, provide bandwidth and provide community value added services like the forums, game admins and a friendly gaming environment.

Some reasons IS should have the ranked server license:

1) There are simply not enough ranked servers in South Africa to cope with the large player base.

2) It is very unfair to only allow 2 of the 5 major game service providers to have ranked servers. All of the gaming providers in South Africa have the capacity and community to justify a ranked server license.

3) There are no other countries in proximity with reliable game servers and bandwidth.

4) American or European servers are totally unplayable because it takes at least 200 milliseconds for a packet to get there even under ideal circumstances.

5) Players have paid good money for an online game and expect to be able to play it without waiting 2 hours to get connected to a server.

I really hope EA reconsiders and allows IS Gaming and even the other game services to host ranked servers to cater for the large gaming community.

I spoke to EA SA now on the phone.

IS Gaming is not one of the three registered hosters for South Africa.

If we would like to speed up the process and get them reg'd direct emails to <e>zasupport@ea.com

with subject as CHANOR1.

Just mention that there are not enough servers in South Africa and that IS Gaming would make a perfect provider for the servers.

Keep the emails clean guys and lets try get some badly needed SA BFBC II servers.

Thank,

LeathaL

Please guys, when you get a gap, send a mail off to zasupport@ea.com with the subject line: CHANOR1. Tell them how badly we need more servers for this great title in SA. Just keep it clean ;)

Cheers

Mail sent  I argued the point that the pre-ordered games alone outnumber the current server capacity.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts, and I looked and behold, a pale horse. And the name that was set upon him, was Death. And hell, followed with him...

I sent the following:

To whom this may concern.

Connecting to EA is frustrating, as it links to the server over seas and can take from 30sec to a minute (or sometimes longer depending on the line being used) to log in and retrieve information.
This alone is a tedious thing, not to mention that in BFBC2 they simply forgot about the assisting function of auto log in that we were glad to have had in BF2.
The tremendous BFBC2 player base in South Africa are struggling to connect to local servers as there aren't enough of them, and if EA cares about their fans and valued support from us for buying the game, their thanks and client support must show that we haven't wasted our money on their product by not assisting us in this crisis. Yes, crisis.

Players sometimes wait up to an hour refreshing the local servers trying to find a spot to play on. This can easily be remedied by providing our local ISP's with more servers to play on. Playing on international server are simply out of the question as the latency is totally unacceptable as it's an FPS game. Response time is critical to enjoy the game, and therefor the need to play locally. We in South Africa don't just want, we NEED more local servers to accommodate the huge player base.
Please take this in consideration as this is really a problem for us, and we request assistance in this regard.

Thanks.

Hope my point of view also helped at least a little...

Nobody is playing this game anymore, or let me rephrase all the guys that use to play
Almost as if everybody gives up on the game once they have unlocked all the kits around level 25 to 27 I think. 90 % of the time the players you find online is between lvl 1 - 30 and only a few hardcore lvl 30 + players. What I find these days is that all the rush servers are over played while the conquest and hardcore servers is gathering dust. There is almost always space to play on a conquest or hardcore servers. Rush servers have better balanced maps for all the classes where you would find yourself playing more with close combat classes in conquest servers and with the recon class on hardcore servers..

:(

I know I haven't played in a while, but it's not like I'm tired of BFBC2... I haven't played any game really, I've been otherwise occupied with other things :P
