Bad behavior and Loudness at MPLD

Postby Diacide » 09 Jun 2010, 10:37

We have received several complaints about noise at MPLD specifically noise and shouting and vulgar language at the front entrance of the hall. MPLD has been served with a final warning about the noise. Please be aware that we are right next to an old age home and noise late at night will not be tolerated. No one is allowed to play loud music from cars, shout or scream when you are at the front entrance of the hall. If you see anyone behaving badly or being very loud, please let one of the MPLD staff know. We will lose our venue if we get another complaint, so please help us in this regard.

I agree, some people just dont have manners or respect for others around them. If you really want to chat and talk loud i would suggest that they go aroudn the corner in that circle braai area space and chill there. Also no need to shout and talk loud after 11pm at nights.

Anyways, it will be sad to see MPLD get banned from a nice venue that we been using for over 5 years.

+1 on that...

Why shout to your friend that is standing 2 meters from you? Come on, lol. If you have hearing problems, stop listening to music so bloody loud and stand closer to the person you are talking to.

Also sound echoes to the outside, if one is screaming loud enough, why not use teamspeak or something similar when chatting over bigger distances? Hell even a LAN IM should work well, if you don't want to chat over DC++

Just my solution :D

*Edit to add* LOL, or you want to go to the extreme length... if you want to yell outside to your friends... buy walkie talkies... then there is no need to shout, we are not in a warzone :D  Do it with style... Spec ops style :D 8)

Good comments here :)

I don't want to burst the bubble here for those who enjoy their time at MPLD, and would like a laugh and chat with their buddies at MPLD, but damn, go pimp your sound system at some sound expo or go scream, yell and talk very load to one another in a rugby stadium or club or something. Sure we want to enjoy each others company at MPLD and have a good time. The venue is great and has been great for a long time, but unfortunately it is next to an old age home, and there for we have to be considerate and show our manners in respect to those around us, so we may keep the good venue for future fun times at MPLD.

Load noise and bar-hopping-like behavior hasn't been a problem in the past, until about roughly a year ago that I've noticed some ppl claiming territory at the front parking area, making noise and acting as if they own the place. Don't be a d!ck by thinking only about yourself. Be the better man, and be considerate. Onthou wie jou groot gemaak het... "Make your mom proud"

MPLD is about gamers getting together and having a good time gaming and socializing. Excessive noise and extreme party behavior outside the venue has become a problem due to the surrounding population of the event location, and to keep the location, please be considerate of the rules and those around you.

Umm...

To those that tend to "camp" outside on friday nights, with the music blaring & drinks flowing, why are you doing that at MPLD?
1) It is a GAMING event, not a party zone. (yea yea "LAN Party" but not the way you think)
2) Show me 1 FPS player that likes campers.
3) Before someone comes with "but we are waiting for the doors to open", BS. This goes on well into the night & well after everyone is seated.

There was a time when those doors opened, in a very short time, everyone was inside and shooting away at each other. The only people outside was the new arrivals.

SO, in conclusion, if your GF/BF doesn't like MPLD and wants to go party... then you sort them out. This is the one time "compromise" isn't the best idea (meaning coming to MPLD to party).
